Marsh Tide Appliance Service Independent Sub-Zero Service

Independent · Ponte Vedra Beach, FL

What actually ends a Sub-Zero in Ponte Vedra Beach, and what only looks like it has.

Ponte Vedra Beach · 32082 0.6 mi to the Atlantic · salt-air ZIP · 68 thunderstorm days a year

Age is rarely what finishes a cabinet on this stretch of coast. Two local conditions do most of the damage, and neither one announces itself while it is happening.

  • Outside the cabinet

    Salt

Atlantic air puts salt on condenser fins, hinge pins and stainless trim, and salt holds moisture against aluminium. A condenser that would still be clean after five years inland can be half-blinded here in two, and the compressor pays for it in run time long before anything trips.

  • Behind the cabinet

    Power events

Roughly 68 thunderstorm days a year, plus the multi-day outages this coast saw after Matthew, Irma and Helene, land on a control board and an inverter compressor that expect a clean supply. The failure is usually not the same afternoon — it shows up weeks later as a display that no longer responds, a cycle that will not complete, or settings that quietly reverted.

Marsh Tide Appliance Service is an independent shop covering Ponte Vedra Beach and the St. Johns County coast. One manufacturer, genuine OEM parts, and a written estimate before anything is opened up.

Hours
Mon–Fri 8–6 · Sat 9–4
A coastal kitchen with a stainless built-in refrigerator and freezer set flush into pale cabinetry, a technician kneeling at a cabinet by the window at the far end.
A built-in is part of the joinery. Everything about servicing one follows from that.

What we work on

Sub-Zero refrigeration, and nothing else

Sticking to one manufacturer is how a two-van shop stays genuinely useful on it. If your appliance is not a Sub-Zero, we will say so rather than learn on it.

  • built-in refrigeration
  • integrated column refrigerators and freezers
  • undercounter refrigeration
  • wine storage
  • ice machines
  • outdoor refrigeration

And what is not ours to touch

Every line above is a sealed refrigeration system built into a kitchen, a pantry or a summer kitchen. None of it is the climate system of the house. We do not repair heating or furnaces, we do not repair air conditioning, heat pumps or mini-splits, and we do not work on air handlers, ductwork or the UV lamp someone fitted in a return. Anything in the house climate system belongs to a licensed HVAC contractor, and we say so on the phone rather than send a van.

The overlap is real enough to be worth naming: a condenser has to reject its heat into whatever the room is at, so how well a kitchen is cooled changes how hard a cabinet works. That is a reason to mention the room temperature when you call. It is not a reason to call us about the air conditioning.

  • Sub-Zero built-in refrigerator repair

Diagnosis and repair of Sub-Zero built-in refrigerators and freezers, from a warm fresh-food side to a condenser fan that has finally given up in the salt air.

  • Sub-Zero integrated column repair

Service for integrated refrigerator and freezer columns — the panel-ready cabinets that disappear into the joinery and hide their own air intake behind it.

  • Sub-Zero undercounter and drawer repair

Service for undercounter refrigerators, refrigerator drawers and beverage centres — the units built into islands and pantries where ventilation is tightest.

  • Sub-Zero wine storage repair

Service for Sub-Zero wine storage units, where stability matters more than any single number and a two-degree swing costs more than a warm afternoon ever will.

  • Sub-Zero ice machine repair

Service for Sub-Zero ice machines and built-in ice makers in 32082 — the one appliance in the kitchen that is plumbed, drained and refrigerated all at once.

  • Sub-Zero outdoor refrigeration repair

Service for outdoor-rated Sub-Zero refrigeration in summer kitchens and on pool decks, the harshest position any appliance on this coast is asked to hold.

  • Sub-Zero sealed-system repair

Sealed-system diagnosis and repair — refrigerant leaks, compressor faults, restrictions and evaporator failures, and an honest answer about whether to do it.

How a visit works

Three steps, and no surprises in the middle

  1. 01

You call, and describe the symptom

Temperatures, noises, how long it has been happening. No script, no call centre between you and the person who will be in the kitchen.

  2. 02

We diagnose and write it down

Flat $80 diagnostic, credited toward the repair when you approve the work.

  3. 03

You decide with the numbers in front of you

Written estimate before anything is opened up. Genuine OEM parts, ordered against your own model and serial plate. 90 days on labour, 365 days on parts, and genuine OEM parts on every repair.

EPA Section 608 certification covers the safe handling and recovery of the sealed-system refrigerant in your appliance.

Where we work

Ponte Vedra Beach first, then out from there

Salt air off the Atlantic corrodes condenser fins, hinge hardware and stainless trim; roughly 68 thunderstorm days a year is hard on control boards. Inside 32082 that exposure is a gradient rather than a constant: a cabinet a few hundred yards from the dune needs its condenser looked at roughly twice as often as the same cabinet three miles west behind the marsh, and anything installed on an open pool deck takes the dune-side dose wherever the house happens to sit. Distance from the water is the number worth knowing before we arrive.

What it costs

What does a Sub-Zero refrigeration repair cost in Ponte Vedra Beach?

Most of this work lands between $240 and $2,340, parts and labour together, and the visit that decides which end of that you are at is a flat $80 credited to the repair once you approve it. The firm number is written down after the diagnosis, not guessed at over the phone.

The bands this page falls into, parts and labour together.
Work Typical range
Diagnostic visit $80 flat, credited to the repair
Evaporator or condenser fan motor $250–$580 parts and labour
Compressor or sealed-system repair $860–$2,340 parts and labour
Door gasket or seal replacement $240–$650 parts and labour
Defrost heater, thermostat or sensor $250–$640 parts and labour

Written estimate before anything is opened up. The invoice carries one number; a band is what can honestly be published before the cabinet is open. The full table is on the pricing page.

Customer reviews

What owners said after the visit

4.8 out of 5 from 67 customer reviews. Each one below is a single visit, described by the person who paid for it.

  • The fresh food side sat at fifty two while the freezer held fine. He found the evaporator fan motor stalled behind a wall of frost and replaced it, then cleared the drain tube that had caused the ice.

    Marla T.2026-07-28

  • Condensation was collecting on the glass door of the wine unit right through the summer. He fitted a new door seal and checked the anti condensation heater in the frame, which had gone open circuit.

    Yusuf L.2025-02-13

  • He found the fault, a door gasket that had pulled away at the lower corner, and the replacement seals well. What annoyed me is that it took three visits before anyone put a thermometer in the cabinet.

Questions we get asked

Answers before you call

What does a Sub-Zero refrigeration repair cost in Ponte Vedra Beach?
Most of this work falls between $240 and $2,340, parts and labour together: evaporator or condenser fan motor runs $250–$580, compressor or sealed-system repair runs $860–$2,340, door gasket or seal replacement runs $240–$650 and defrost heater, thermostat or sensor runs $250–$640. Which band your cabinet is in is what the diagnostic settles, and the figure on the written estimate is the one you are asked to approve.
Is the $80 diagnostic charged on top of the repair?
No. The $80 covers the visit and the whole diagnostic sequence, and it comes off the repair the moment you approve the work. Decide against it and the diagnostic is all you have spent: the written findings are yours to take anywhere you like. 90 days on labour, 365 days on parts, and genuine OEM parts on every repair.
Are you affiliated with Sub-Zero?
No. Marsh Tide Appliance Service is an independent appliance repair company. We are not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by Sub-Zero or its parent company. We work on Sub-Zero appliances exclusively, we fit genuine OEM parts, and we identify the brand only to say which appliances we service.
What does the first visit cost?
A flat $80 diagnostic. It covers the visit and the diagnosis, and it is credited toward the repair if you approve the work. You get a written estimate before anything is opened up, so the decision is yours with the numbers in front of you.
Do you charge by the hour?
No. The visit is a flat $80 diagnostic, and the repair after it is quoted as one written figure with parts and labour set out separately. A long afternoon on an awkward installation costs what the estimate said it would, and a quick fix is not stretched to fill a minimum. Nothing is billed against a clock you cannot see.
What is covered after the repair?
90 days on labour and 365 days on parts. Parts are genuine OEM, ordered against the model and serial plate on your own unit rather than a generic cross-reference, because the wrong-but-similar part is the most common reason a repair comes back.
What happens if the repair is not worth doing?
We say so, and the visit ends at the diagnostic. You keep the written findings and the readings behind them, which are yours to take to a dealer or to a second opinion. We would rather lose a repair than sell one to a cabinet we do not expect to survive it, and that conversation is easier before parts are ordered.
Do you work on other brands?
No. Sub-Zero refrigeration only — built-in and integrated cabinets, columns, undercounter units, wine storage, ice machines and outdoor refrigeration. Working on one manufacturer is how a small shop stays genuinely useful on it.
Do you repair heating or air conditioning?
No, and it is worth being blunt about it. We repair refrigeration built into a kitchen: cabinets, columns, undercounter units, wine storage, ice machines and outdoor refrigeration. Furnaces and any other heating, air conditioning, heat pumps and mini-splits, air handlers, ductwork and duct-mounted UV lamps are all outside what we do, and none of it is subcontracted. If the house is not holding temperature, the call you want is a licensed HVAC contractor, not this one. If a cabinet in the kitchen is not holding temperature, that is ours.
When can you come out?
Monday to Friday 8:00am to 6:00pm and Saturday 9:00am to 4:00pm. We do not run an overnight or emergency service, and we would rather say so than promise a van at midnight that never arrives.
How far do you travel?
Ponte Vedra Beach is the base, and the van covers roughly forty miles from it — Nocatee, the beaches, St. Augustine and across to Mandarin, San Marco and Deerwood. If you are near the edge of that, call and ask.
Who handles the refrigerant?
Sealed-system work is carried out by EPA Section 608 certified technicians. That certification covers the safe recovery and handling of refrigerant, it is genuinely held, and it is a legal requirement for the work rather than a marketing badge.
