Questions

Answers before you call

The things people ask on the phone, written down once. Flat $80 diagnostic, credited toward the repair when you approve the work.

A hand on the rail of an open freezer drawer, the frost line along the compartment wall clearly visible above it.
The questions below are the ones asked on the phone, answered the way they are answered on the phone.

Money

What the visit costs, what happens to that fee, and what is covered afterwards.

What does the first visit cost?
A flat $80 diagnostic. It covers the visit and the diagnosis, and it is credited toward the repair if you approve the work. You get a written estimate before anything is opened up, so the decision is yours with the numbers in front of you.
Do you charge by the hour?
No. The visit is a flat $80 diagnostic, and the repair after it is quoted as one written figure with parts and labour set out separately. A long afternoon on an awkward installation costs what the estimate said it would, and a quick fix is not stretched to fill a minimum. Nothing is billed against a clock you cannot see.
What is covered after the repair?
90 days on labour and 365 days on parts. Parts are genuine OEM, ordered against the model and serial plate on your own unit rather than a generic cross-reference, because the wrong-but-similar part is the most common reason a repair comes back.
What happens if the repair is not worth doing?
We say so, and the visit ends at the diagnostic. You keep the written findings and the readings behind them, which are yours to take to a dealer or to a second opinion. We would rather lose a repair than sell one to a cabinet we do not expect to survive it, and that conversation is easier before parts are ordered.

Booking a visit

When we work, and what happens between the call and the van arriving.

When can you come out?
Monday to Friday 8:00am to 6:00pm and Saturday 9:00am to 4:00pm. We do not run an overnight or emergency service, and we would rather say so than promise a van at midnight that never arrives.

What we take on

One manufacturer, one kind of appliance, and a working radius with an edge to it.

Do you work on other brands?
No. Sub-Zero refrigeration only — built-in and integrated cabinets, columns, undercounter units, wine storage, ice machines and outdoor refrigeration. Working on one manufacturer is how a small shop stays genuinely useful on it.
Do you repair heating or air conditioning?
No, and it is worth being blunt about it. We repair refrigeration built into a kitchen: cabinets, columns, undercounter units, wine storage, ice machines and outdoor refrigeration. Furnaces and any other heating, air conditioning, heat pumps and mini-splits, air handlers, ductwork and duct-mounted UV lamps are all outside what we do, and none of it is subcontracted. If the house is not holding temperature, the call you want is a licensed HVAC contractor, not this one. If a cabinet in the kitchen is not holding temperature, that is ours.
How far do you travel?
Ponte Vedra Beach is the base, and the van covers roughly forty miles from it — Nocatee, the beaches, St. Augustine and across to Mandarin, San Marco and Deerwood. If you are near the edge of that, call and ask.

Independence and credentials

Who we are not connected to, and which EPA credential is genuinely held.

Are you affiliated with Sub-Zero?
No. Marsh Tide Appliance Service is an independent appliance repair company. We are not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by Sub-Zero or its parent company. We work on Sub-Zero appliances exclusively, we fit genuine OEM parts, and we identify the brand only to say which appliances we service.
Who handles the refrigerant?
Sealed-system work is carried out by EPA Section 608 certified technicians. That certification covers the safe recovery and handling of refrigerant, it is genuinely held, and it is a legal requirement for the work rather than a marketing badge.

What it costs

What does a Sub-Zero repair cost here?

Most of this work lands between $240 and $2,340, parts and labour together, and the visit that decides which end of that you are at is a flat $80 credited to the repair once you approve it. The firm number is written down after the diagnosis, not guessed at over the phone.

Every band we quote from, in Ponte Vedra Beach and the rest of St. Johns County.
Work Typical range
Diagnostic visit $80 flat, credited to the repair
Door gasket or seal replacement $240–$650 parts and labour
Evaporator or condenser fan motor $250–$580 parts and labour
Defrost heater, thermostat or sensor $250–$640 parts and labour
Ice maker, water valve or supply line $240–$670 parts and labour
Electronic control board $400–$820 parts and labour
Compressor or sealed-system repair $860–$2,340 parts and labour
The other side of the decision: what the cabinet costs to replace instead. A comparable built-in refrigerator, appliance only — before delivery, installation, custom panels or cabinetry. Undercounter and wine units sit below this band; replacing a column pair is usually two purchases rather than one. Appliance pricing is national, unlike the labour above.
Replacing it Typical range
Typical 36-42 inch built-in, the usual repair-or-replace comparison $11,600–$16,800
Custom panels and integrated cabinetry, on top of the appliance $2,000–$5,000
Replacement wine storage or an undercounter unit, appliance only $3,500–$5,500

Written estimate before anything is opened up. The invoice carries one number; a band is what can honestly be published before the cabinet is open. The full table is on the pricing page.

Money

What does a Sub-Zero refrigeration repair cost in Ponte Vedra Beach?
Most of this work falls between $860 and $2,340, parts and labour together: compressor or sealed-system repair runs $860–$2,340. Which band your cabinet is in is what the diagnostic settles, and the figure on the written estimate is the one you are asked to approve.
Is the $80 diagnostic charged on top of the repair?
No. The $80 covers the visit and the whole diagnostic sequence, and it comes off the repair the moment you approve the work. Decide against it and the diagnostic is all you have spent: the written findings are yours to take anywhere you like. 90 days on labour, 365 days on parts, and genuine OEM parts on every repair.
What is the most expensive part to replace on a built-in refrigerator?
The compressor, and with it the rest of the sealed system — compressor or sealed-system repair runs $860–$2,340, parts and labour. The cost is the work rather than the part: recovery, leak location, a new drier, a vacuum and a charge by weight. Boards, fans, defrost parts and door seals all sit below it.
When is it worth replacing the cabinet instead of repairing it?
When the quoted repair approaches what the appliance is worth to you. A comparable built-in runs $8,600 to $19,400 for the appliance alone, before delivery, installation or panels, so a repair in the hundreds is usually the cheaper year. We say which side of that line you are on before parts are ordered, not after.
Ponte Vedra Beach Still unanswered? The phone is faster than any page on this site

If the question is about your own cabinet — a temperature, a noise, a sheet of ice in a place there should not be one — describe it on the phone rather than looking for it here. Ten minutes of symptoms usually narrows the fault before anybody is in the van.
